Actually there are a number of reasons.  In fact, it will be a whole chapter in our up and coming eBook on Aquaponnics...

Shipping

1. 1.They survive better during shipping, because they need less Oxygen and expel less CO2.
   

2. 2.Shipping is less expensive, because they need less water and Oxygen. We can ship in smaller boxes.
   

3. 3.We have found that the fry are more resilient, thus survive shipping better.
   

Care and Feeding

1. They bounce back better,
   

1. a) which gives you time to get your system right
   

2. b) they need less water during shipping  (more room for oxygen!)
   

3. c) they can handle some dirty tank issues (but please clean them up as fast as    you can!:) 
   

4. d) gives you time to figure it all out without loosing everything
   

5. e) they get used to you feeding them and makes for a better long term, better fed, fish
   

Starter Kit

1. We have a starter feed kit on our Purchase Page that we can send to allow you to feed your fish as soon as you receive them.  We have 3 different sizes that we include.   This should get you through a few weeks to give you time to find a supplier for your bulk feed.
